Integration tests validate multiple components together: databases, HTTP APIs, message queues, and cross-service contracts. They are slower and flakier than unit tests, so invest in repeatable environments (containers, test data seeding, isolated tenants) and clear failure diagnostics.
Continuous integration runs these checks on every change: lint, unit, integration, and security scans as appropriate. “Continuous verification” extends the idea—observing production-like signals (tracing, synthetic checks, feature flags) so regressions surface before broad impact.
