Welcome to My Blog

An introduction to this blog and what I plan to share about my journey in computer science and machine learning research.

Welcome to My Blog

Welcome! I’m Scott Weeden, a Master of Computer Science student at Texas Tech University, and this is where I’ll be sharing my journey through the fascinating world of machine learning, algorithm analysis, and computer science research.

What This Blog Is About

Over the next months and years, I plan to use this space to:

  • Document my learning journey - From reinforcement learning experiments to algorithm analysis deep dives
  • Share technical insights - Breaking down complex concepts into understandable explanations
  • Reflect on research - Discussing my ongoing projects and research interests
  • Connect with the community - Engaging with fellow researchers, students, and practitioners

My Background

Originally from Oregon, I moved to Texas after being the victim of mortgage fraud. My passion and goal is to use technology to empower the voice of americans, hold leaders accountable, provide elected officials and candidates a platform where they can be known, and voters a petition to sign when its time for change

Some highlights of my work so far:

  • Authored an IEEE peer review article of a Microsoft Research publication
  • Perfected the Master’s theorem in algorithm analysis
  • Participated in Kaggle ML competitions
  • Created educational content on reinforcement learning

Why Start a Blog?

The best way to solidify understanding is to explain it to others. Richard Feynman famously advocated for this approach, and I’ve found it incredibly valuable in my own learning. By writing about what I’m studying and building, I:

  1. Deepen my understanding - Writing forces clarity of thought
  2. Create a resource for others - Maybe my explanations help someone else
  3. Track my progress - Looking back to see how far I’ve come
  4. Build connections - Engaging with the broader CS and ML community

What to Expect

My posts will range from:

  • Technical tutorials - Step-by-step guides on implementing algorithms or techniques
  • Concept explanations - Making complex ideas accessible
  • Project updates - Sharing progress on research and personal projects
  • Learning reflections - Thoughts on courses, papers, and experiences
  • Industry insights - Observations on ML trends and applications

Looking Ahead

I’m planning a study abroad semester in Australia, which should bring exciting new perspectives and research opportunities. I’m particularly interested in international collaboration and exploring how different cultural contexts shape approaches to AI and ML.

Let’s Connect

I’m always eager to connect with fellow enthusiasts, researchers, and learners. Whether you have questions, suggestions, or just want to discuss interesting problems, feel free to reach out:
